Incommunicado

Apologies for the long break in posting. We left for our European holiday 2 weeks ago and the entire week preceding that I was sick with a nasty bug that prevented me from doing a full day at work.
The last 2 weeks have been incredibly busy catching up with family and friends in Munich; we went to the Oktoberfest; did a BMW factory tour, and spent the last 4 days in the gorgeous city of Barcelona. Photos to come, but I haven't even had a chance to download them, let alone edit and resize.
On top of that my boyfriend of 7+ years proposed on our last night in Barcelona, so the last couple of days were filled with emails, phone calls, and Facebook messages.
I will endeavour to update this blog soon. :)
On Monday we are off for a couple of days in Elsac, France!!
We are having a fantastic time and I can't wait to share some pics and stories once I have a free minute.

Asbestos Manor

Over NYE we spent a few nights at Hervey Bay. This house on the esplanade practically jumps out at you.

The Flora and Fauna of Changi Airport

We have finally come to the last of my holiday postings. I had a four hour stop-over at Changi Airport in Singapore on my return flight so with some time to kill I decided to visit the Butterfly Garden and Koi Pond.
Sadly, my photography skills are clearly not up to photographing into water, but here are a few anyway:

The Butterfly Gardens is a small enclosure, beautifully landscaped with tropical plants, the humidity intensifying their aroma. There are hundreds of butterflies fluttering around, feeding on the plants, and delighting jet-lagged tourists. Enjoy!

Allianz Arena

Unfortunately I was unable to attend a football game whilst in Munich but at least I got to got on a tour of the Allianz Arena, Bayern Munich's home stadium. Sadly, it was a grey, cold, windy day, but still fascinating. The amazing exterior almost matched the sky perfectly:

This is what the coach and players see during the press conference - usually with loads of journos..

The Bayern Munich change room:
Every player has a photo of himself above their locker. Like in a child care centre... This is the locker of Bastian Schweinsteiger:

The players come out of this change room...
..and down these steps to get out onto the pitch.
Another shot of the air-filled exterior bubbles.

More photos from my trip - Andechs

I finally had a little bit of time today to go through the rest of my photos from my trip, a mere 4 months after my return. How exceptionally organised of me..

Towards the end of the holiday we went on a day trip to Andechs, a monastery about an hour's drive outside of Munich.
A couple of cows on the walk up to the monastery.

There's a great Bavarian restaurant up there, their specialty being pork hock, so that's what people travel there for:
Check out that crackle! YUM!
Some photos of the church:
A selection of crosses and crucifixes in the store there.
They also sell excellent Schnapps! :)

Hope you enjoyed, and if you're ever in Munich, it's definitely worth the trip!

Delightful in Turkey

As mentioned previously, my friend is currently in Turkey, and has put up a couple of posts on her first few days' adventure. Really makes we want to visit there. Check it out!

Melbourne 2

On our second day we got breakfast at a cute place called Black Ruby.

Nifty sugar bowl:

Then we set off for a day trip out to Hanging Rock (photos below) and Daylesford (we somehow forgot to take photos here).

Dinner that night was completely random - the places we had planned on going to were all full, so we just walked up and down Chapel Street to find something, and ended up trying a Turkish Restaurant, which turned out to be amazing. Marmara at 68 Chapel Street. Try if it you're in Melbourne!
