Antlers as storage
Came across this awesome way to use antlers over at Design*Sponge. Such a novel idea.
My late grandfather had a massive collection of antlers in his living room, and I'm hoping to be able to bring a couple of pairs back from our next trip. I think they look beautiful, but they also have sentimental value.

Dream bed
I really love this big low bed, as featured in the latest Vogue Living. It might not be terribly practical to have to get up from just about floor height in the morning, but it is oh so very stylish. Sadly our bedroom is way too small to give it the room to breathe that it deserves.

Hiding the tech
In this day and age it can seem that tech gadgets are taking over our homes. Sarah at sarah.wondering has found a great way to hide speakers without losing audio quality - the speaker is in the right credenza, behind the holes.

Alternate storag solution
Ton has a random collection of dice that he's been keeping in a coffee jar, but since we're revamping the bookshelf, I really didn't like this ugly container to sit on the shiny new shelf. I dropped by Woolloongabba Antiques and picked up this vintage jar that I really like. I remember my nan cooking preserves and storing them in this kind of jar. Ton has a few other collections of bits and bobs, so I will keep checking back there for more jars in this vein.

Basketcase
As Christmas hampers from suppliers arrive at offices across the country, they are usually distributed amongst staff; this occurred last week at Ton's work, where he lucky-dipped one of the baskets all the goodies came in. (Sadly, no goodies, but I digress) At first I was at a loss about what to do with this new acquisition, but I think it will come in very handy as an additional magazine 'rack', as our existing rack is full and all bookshelves overflowing. Sadly the colour is completely wrong, so this will be one of the DIY projects to tackle over the break; I'm planning on white-washing this and have been furiously googling the easiest, least time-consuming way to do this. (Why yes, I am lazy.)

I dub thee
We only have a couple of pot plants on the balcony, but I couldn't resist these adorable little chalkboards from Blake & Taylor to label them anyway. Something that we didn't plant has started growing in one of the pots, so I have dubbed it the Mystery Plant for now, and we are very interested to see what that will turn into.

Minimalist Christmas
I wasn't planning on putting out any Christmas decorations this year, but I finally got into the spirit this weekend and put up a few baubles on my twisted willow branches in the living room.

New Dining Chairs
I am so excited, I have been looking for new dining chairs for ages! I saw these at Mindi's and had to have them, too! They got delivered on Friday, and we had to put the legs on them last night, which was a major pain in the arse, but I am very happy that we have a new set of dining chairs!

Light as a feather
Can't believe I forgot to blog this during the week...
Gillian Hirst has opened a cute little cafe in Coorparoo that we had brunch at last Saturday. The food was fabulous, but I also really loved these crazy feather lights.

The bookshelf dreams are made of
A bookshelf in the home of model Coco Rocha. Photographed by Claiborne Swanson Frank. Found at vogue.com
I just LOVE the way she's put this together with the books and the little bits and pieces. We're in the market for a new floor-to-ceiling bookshelf for the office, and I will be revisiting this image for styling inspiration!

Typography & Illustration in Retail Design
I've been doing some research on retail design lately for work, and come across some really cool ways to integrate type and graphic illustrations into store design.

Outdoor Design
We did this a few weeks ago, but only had time to photograph on the weekend. Our outdoor planters had started to look a little tired, so we ventured to our local Bunnings who have an extensive outdoor/gardening section. Inspired by the Japanese Bento Box, we made a little square display in the corner of our balcony, in black. I really like the contrast between the glossy black and simplicity of shape in the smaller planters to the matte black with the slightly more ornate design of the large pot. The two back pots are small chili trees, the front one is a decorative plant, and I planted some seeds in the round one, however, I think they are not taking, so I might need to plant something new.

You can leave your Hat on (the hook)
My hats are 'stored' on two mannequins next to our entry door. I also hung a lot of my scarves on those mannequins, but they are getting totally overloaded by now. So I might need some extra hooks next to them to solve this problem. Lovely idea! Image found at Design*Sponge
Eat
I've been neglecting my blog big-time lately. Work's been super-busy, many late nights, and weekend work, and last weekend we were away in Melbourne, so no time to catch up then. Hopefully I'll have some time THIS weekend to upload some Melbourne and Riverfire images. In the meantime, I found this awesome table on Design*Sponge. I love it! Makes me want to get rid of our glass dining table.
