Brisbane City of Lights
As part of the Brisbane Festival there is a nightly laser show over the Brisbane River. Last Thursday we happened to be at South Bank at the right time. I didn't have my tripod with me, so the longest exposure is about 1/3 of a second or so, with me leaning against a pole for some stability. Hope you like.

Prolonged Exposure on the River
We've started our second photography course, and for our first assignment we had to take multiple shots over a time period before and after sunset to see how the fading light changes the look of our cityscapes. Since we'd already dragged our gear and ourselves to South Bank (GoMA end) we decided to stay another half an hour after completing our assignment, to take some more long exposures of the precinct. This is the first time we've done long exposure stuff, so still a lot to learn, but it was very fun!

Winter in Australia
Brisbane's first annual Winter Festival was held over the last couple of weeks in King George Square with an ice rink nestled in the centre, flanked by palm trees. Food stalls, featuring a variety of cuisines were dotted around the square, providing skaters and spectators alike with yummy and warming morsels of Europe.

Book Launch: My Heart Wanders
Yesterday we spent a lovely afternoon in the sun at St Francis Theological College for the book launch of My Heart Wanders by Pia Jane Bijkerk - stylist, photographer, author and blogger. Her blog has a huge, international following and she is an inspiration to many of us in creative industries. I had a quick flick through the book during the day and can't wait for a free weekend to sit down with a cuppa and immerse myself in it.

Another storm in Brisbane
It was absolutely pelting down for about 15 minutes, with plenty of thunder and lighting thrown in the mix. Had to take some quick snaps of the water bouncing around on the balcony.
Am now back from Sydney, with loads of stuff to post, some still from before we went, so hopefully I can get stuck into that this week. I also have my first photography lesson tonight for this 8-week basics course I'm doing. Very excited! So hopefully, from here on out, the photos will get better.

Killbot Kindergarten Gig
Flood relief concert featuring Killbot Kindergarten and Wolfmother. Sadly I had to leave before Wolfmother started as I had to pick Ton up from the airport. Sadface. The KK part of the gig was really great though, so not too sad.
