Night sky
A storm raged over Brisbane last night, but sadly I was stuck in traffic, so I missed all the potential lighting shots. I got home just in time to capture this strange shade that the sky took on.

GoMA Up Late
We made it to the Surrealist Exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art for their Up Late sessions a couple of Fridays ago. The neon writing is on the inside of the buildings I photographed in this post.
Lunch
Dad made a slow-cooked veal roast (2 of the above) with the yummiest roast potatoes, spaetzle and 4 types of vegetable with the delicious gravy. YUM!!

A very bubbly lunch
Today I went to a lovely goodbye lunch for an expectant mother. This awesome card was drawn by her colleague Haami.

Flashing allowed
I am so excited, my brand-spanking new external flashlight just arrived from B&H in New York (almost exactly a week after ordering) and I am well impressed. I'll have to actually read the manual and learn how to use it properly, but I am so excited by the prospects. It's the Nissin Di866 Mark II, and the above is the first proper photo I took with it. (not very inspiring, but there's nothing very exciting at work to photograph at the moment)
{and yes, the wall behind the vase IS a kind of greyish colour}

Antlers as storage
Came across this awesome way to use antlers over at Design*Sponge. Such a novel idea.
My late grandfather had a massive collection of antlers in his living room, and I'm hoping to be able to bring a couple of pairs back from our next trip. I think they look beautiful, but they also have sentimental value.

Milestones
It's my nan's 85th birthday in October and we're very happy that we'll be able to take some holidays to fly to Germany join her in the celebrations. So, more travel posts coming up :)
I designed a simple invitation for her this week - inspired by a broach she made me probably about 2 decades ago (she's into her craft). I used a classic serif typeface in Mrs Eaves (including some ligatures), but kept it modern and clean, with a feminine feel. Today I sourced some cream pinstriped card with matching envelopes; have now finished printing and slicing, and punched the corners round.

This is an outrage!
How can this light box be one of the first things that greets visitors to Sydney airport!? COMIC SANS!?!?! What the?!
I covet this
Randomly came across this kick-arse camera bag made of recycled belts. No idea what the lining is like, but how cute is this!! Sadly it seems to have sold already, but there are other great vintage bags on this site to check out.

Prolonged Exposure on the River
We've started our second photography course, and for our first assignment we had to take multiple shots over a time period before and after sunset to see how the fading light changes the look of our cityscapes. Since we'd already dragged our gear and ourselves to South Bank (GoMA end) we decided to stay another half an hour after completing our assignment, to take some more long exposures of the precinct. This is the first time we've done long exposure stuff, so still a lot to learn, but it was very fun!
