Killbot Kindergarten Gig

Flood relief concert featuring Killbot Kindergarten and Wolfmother. Sadly I had to leave before Wolfmother started as I had to pick Ton up from the airport. Sadface. The KK part of the gig was really great though, so not too sad.

Girls just wanna have fun

New Lens 50mm 1.4 Post 1

Work's been out of control lately, so even though I've had my new lens for a few weeks now, I've only just managed to go through the mountains of photos I've taken. As soon as I got it, I just walked around our unit and took photos of pretty much anything. Here are a few:

Work: Brown paper as a styling device

A couple of weeks ago I had to pull together a shoot in less than a day - the client had decided last minute that he wanted some groups shot for a last-minute project. No time for props, or even doing some test shots myself to figure out layout. Luckily we have heaps of brown paper at work, and I'd already organised photography for the next day for another project.
Mindi Cooke and I have worked together on quite a few still life shoots in the past 2 years so we have an easy rapport which was invaluable in putting this shoot together, flying by the seats of our pants. We used natural light and I think we pulled it together really well.

Winter at Pulp

In January we shot the campaign for our other in-house brand, Pulp. It was all the same crew, except for the retouching, which was done by ColourChiefs this time, and we also had a male model, Matt Johnson from Dally's.

Winter at Pulp Noir

I can finally share our latest seasonal images that we shot back in December.
My job in this was the art direction. Our wonderful model Alexandra was from Dallys, and the campaign was shot by Paul Giggle. Hair & make-up by Tania Travers. We shot in studio and all backgrounds were comped in by the wonderfully talented retoucher Justin Overell who is amazing, and whose work I love love love!
I am particularly happy with the shoe close-ups, as I wasn't quite sure if they was going to work as I envisioned but they came together easily on the day. To check out some shoes go to www.pulpshoes.com

Speaking of shopping

Ton's sister brought him this awesome belt from the US. I think I shall wear it out tonight. *evil cackle*

Shopping for kids

It's my god daughter's birthday next week, and we are seeing her tomorrow, so I went for a little shopping expedition today. I would've loved this jacket at her age; let's hope she does, too...

Smokey Eye

If I can ever figure out how to do this beautiful smokey eye on myself I can die happy.

Alan Jensen Photographer Extraordinaire

Today I would like to share one of my favourite photographers with all of you. Alan specialises in interior photography but is equally fabulous at exteriors (architecture & beautiful landscapes) and portraiture (he took a killer shot of Chopper Read, but it's sadly no longer on his website).
Alan has an amazing eye and I love how he uses light. He is super-talented and such a humble, all-round lovely person to boot!
Lately he's been gorgeous shots like the above on his blog. Make sure to check out both the blog and his portfolio. All stunning! Love your work, Al!
